La Bulería Tablao Flamenco

There was a certain mystery in what to expect that night, and then we found ourselves inside a flamenco evening with seated dinner at La Bulería. The place has flair running through its walls. You can feel the history in the air, the character in every corner. We chose the premium dinner ticket, starting around 8:30pm. Bread arrived with a platter of cheese and ham, and a vegan version with tofu and crackers for our friend. Then came the salads, followed by a choice of fish, meat, or a vegan option (vegan lasagna), and for dessert, a chocolate brownie with ice cream. Worth noting, the dinner keeps being served even once the show begins, so you are never quite forced to choose between a bite and the spectacle. The place seemed to be a little short on staff that night, but one waiter, Miguel (I hope memory serves me right), moved through the room like it was his personal stage. So dedicated that he knelt down even, just to clear plates from the table without blocking the view of the guests behind us. A true gem in the middle of the chaos. The difference between premium and VIP mostly comes down to a couple of extra drinks (we had two each from the selection) and a better vantage point for the show (definitely important). It is worth the upgrade, we would go VIP without hesitation next time. From our seats we could not see the dancers' feet or catch some parts of the performance, so we ended up moving chairs midway through. The food itself did not reach the same heights as the atmosphere. The fish came out a little dry and a touch too salty. The salads, on the other hand, were wonderful. Dessert was forgettable, also leaning dry. It was ok overall. But the show. The show was where the night truly came alive. You could feel the dancer's passion in every step, and the guitar and the singing rose far beyond anything we expected, filling the room with something raw and real. It starts at 10pm, so the timing might not suit everyone. The food may not have earned five stars, but we did not come for the food. We came for the culture, for that unmistakable feeling of passion, and we found it in full.
